Firefight Update

Halo Infinite’s latest update, Operation: Blue Team, brings a classic game mode back to the franchise and introduces a new twist to the multiplayer experience. Firefight Classic, a beloved mode from Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, returns with its original rules. In Firefight Classic, players form teams of four to face endless waves of increasingly challenging enemies.

The game is structured with five waves per round, three rounds, and a bonus round. Teams share a limited pool of seven lives, which can only be replenished by completing sets or scoring 1,000 points during bonus rounds. A new feature allows players to end the match after completing a set by entering an extraction zone.

The update also includes new and remastered Forge maps for Firefight Classic. These maps feature Halo 3: ODST’s Alpha Site and Security Zone, Halo: Reach’s Courtyard, an expanded House of Reckoning stage, and a new level called Forest Firefight. Alongside Firefight Classic, the update introduces Hot Swap, a 4v4 Team Slayer variant.

In this mode, players’ loadouts change every 30 seconds, selected from a pool of 13 different sets. The mode is played on Halo Infinite’s standard Arena map rotation, with a new arena called Nemesis added to the mix.

The update features a free 20-tier Operation Pass with Blue Team-inspired cosmetics, including the HERMES-class Mjolnir armor worn by Kelly-087. Upgrading to the Premium Pass grants additional rewards, such as Kelly’s Wintergeist armor, an extra Challenge slot, and bonus XP. Other Blue Team armor and cosmetics are available in the Halo Infinite microtransaction shop.

Operation: Blue Team demonstrates Halo Studios’ commitment to enriching the game with new content despite shifting focus to future projects. These updates, supported by community Forgers, provide players with fresh experiences and maintain engagement as the game’s lifecycle ends. While Halo Infinite may not have reached its initial expectations, the game’s regular updates and dedicated player base showcase its enduring appeal.

As fans await the next chapter in the Halo franchise, these patches offer a solid experience to enjoy.
