Databricks Unveils Secure Version of Apache Spark

At the Spark Summit 2016, Databricks launched a new security framework for Apache Spark. Called Databricks Enterprise Security (DBES), the framework includes features like encryption, identity management, role-based access control, data governance and standards compliance. “With the completion of DBES Phase One today, enterprises gain the ability to control access to Apache Spark clusters on an individual basis, manage user identity with a SAML 2.0 compatible identify management provider service, and end-to-end auditability,” said Dave Wang, director of product marketing at Databricks.

Also at the event, the company launched a new free community version of its Databricks data platform.

Databricks was founded by the developers who first created Apache Spark.
