At the Red Hat Summit in Boston this week, Red Hat and Samsung announced that they will be partnering together on a new enterprise mobile development initiative. “Samsung will be providing devices and services for the enterprise,” explained Craig Muzilla, senior vice president, Application Platforms Product Group at Red Hat. “We’re providing the strength of our portfolio and a new product we just announced, called Red Hat Mobile Application Platform, which helps to build the back-end services and capabilities for host apps.”
The pair also plan to offer a set of pre-built industry-specific mobile applications for various business needs. Several industry watchers have noted that the arrangement is similar to the mobile partnership between IBM and Apple.
