I am trying to do the SQL statements on the client side. Because I have declare int in the database, I need to convert the column before I can insert into the database (my error is: implict conversion of varchar to int). How can I use the convert function together with Insert?

Just put the convert function in the insert statement like so:

insert into table x (cola, colb, etc)values(convert(int,[@variable or constant])

If you want to ensure that the value is numeric before attempting the insert, use the isnumric function. if (isnumeric(@var) = 1) insert …else …
