IBM Launches Emotion Analyzing, Visual APIs for Watson

IBM is expanding its lineup of cognitive computing tools for developers with several new or updated APIs for its Watson platform. It has added three new beta APIs: Tone Analyzer, Emotion Analysis and Visual Recognition. In addition, it has added new emotional capabilities to its text-to-speech engine, which will be called Expressive TTS.

“We continue to advance the capabilities we offer developers on IBM’s Watson platform to help this community create dynamic AI infused apps and services,” said David Kenny, general manager of IBM Watson. “We are also simplifying the platform, making it easier to build, teach and deploy the technology. Together, these efforts will enable Watson to be applied in many more ways to address societal challenges.”

All of the Watson APIs are available through the IBM Watson Developer Cloud on the Bluemix platform as a service.
