Liquid Web Buys Rackspace’s Cloud Sites Unit

For some time, rumors have suggested that all or part of the cloud computing company Rackspace might be for sale. Now the company has confirmed some of those reports by selling its Cloud Sites web hosting service to Liquid Web. Like Cloud Sites, Liquid Web also offers cloud-based Web hosting with an emphasis on customer service.

?Unfortunately, our industry is trending toward unsupported services, which leaves fast-growing developers, digital agencies and designers alone, without a real person to turn to when they really need help,? Liquid Web CEO Jim Geiger said.

With the acquisition of Cloud Sites, Liquid Web supports WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, .NET, PHP and other development and production environments. Cloud Sites will continue to be headquartered in San Antonio, TX, and Liquid Web plans to expand the Cloud Sites team.
