Survey: 54% of Java Developers Plan to Upgrade to Java 8 Within a Year

Lambdas are among the new release's most popular features.

Application Security Testing: An Integral Part of DevOps

A report from middleware vendor Typesafe finds that most developers are eagerly anticipating the March 16 release of Java 8 despite security concerns. Among those surveyed, 29 percent plan to start using Java 8 within six months, and 25 percent plan to do so within six months to a year.

According to the report, "83 percent of respondents chose lambda expressions as their favorite feature of Java 8. It's worth noting that the second most popular response was the improvements to the collections that are being added to exploit lambdas."
