Nvidia unveils GeForce RTX 5000 series

Nvidia has unveiled its new RTX 5000-series graphics cards at the CES event in Las Vegas. The lineup includes the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070. The pricing for the new series varies compared to the previous RTX 4000 series.

The flagship RTX 5090 is priced at $1,999, $400 more than its predecessor. However, the RTX 5080 is $200 less than the RTX 4080 at launch.

The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 also have lower launch prices, with the 5070 Ti seeing a $50 reduction and the 5070 priced at $549.

These price adjustments show Nvidia’s strategy to maintain its market dominance, especially in the low to mid-range segments. Competitors AMD and Intel have been focusing their efforts in these areas. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be available starting January 30.

The RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 will launch in February.

Nvidia’s new RTX 5000 lineup

Nvidia is skipping its own Founders Edition model for the RTX 5070 Ti but will offer it for other models on its website.

While Nvidia has not announced the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti yet, expectations are high. Historically, models in this range follow several months after the initial high-end releases. The RTX 5090 is based on the new Blackwell architecture.

It features a sleeker Founders Edition and a more incredible design. Unlike the massive triple-slot RTX 4090, the new 5090 is a whole lot thinner, fitting into a two-slot design. This size reduction could influence the design standards of other models and partners’ boards, making PC builds more flexible.

The RTX 5000 series represents a significant leap in Nvidia’s graphics card lineup. It offers new performance levels and more practical designs. While the flagship RTX 5090 is more expensive, most of the series offers cost improvements over previous generations.

The coming months will provide more clarity as these cards become available and we see the market’s response.
