Red Hat and Microsoft are putting aside their differences to collaborate on cloud computing offerings. The two companies announced that Red Hat Enterprise Linux is now supported on Microsoft Azure, and JBoss Middleware will be coming to the cloud computing service "in the coming weeks." The two companies will also collocate support personnel to provide better service to their shared customers.
In addition, Red Hat's OpenShift cloud development platform will add support for .NET development, and several other tools from the two companies will be integrated.
Microsoft Azure already supported several other Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, CentOS, Oracle Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise and openSUSE, but this new alliance with Red Hat seems like a significant step in Microsoft's embrace of open soure.
