Verizon Cloud Back Online after 40-Hour Outage

The company says it has made improvements to its cloud computing service so that a similar outage won't happen again.

Application Security Testing: An Integral Part of DevOps

Last week, Verizon Cloud warned customers that its enterprise cloud computing service would shut down for up to 48 hours for planned maintenance. The outage lasted about forty hours and angered many customers. A GigaOm story on the event noted, "The prevailing opinion was that cloud computing vendors should be able to handle upgrades and maintenance with a lot less downtime than that."

The company says that it has now added "seamless upgrade functionality" and that in the future "virtually all maintenance and upgrades to Verizon Cloud will now happen in the background with no impact to customers."
