Migration from VB 4.0 to VB 5.0

Migration from VB 4.0 to VB 5.0

I am currently using VB 4.0 Entreprise and will migrate to VB 5.0 Pro at home (I am still using this version at work).I would like to be able to use both VB 4.0 and VB 5.0 on the same computer, but MS knowledge base recommand using a dual boot. On some forums or mailing lists, it is said you can run both version on the same computer. The most important is that you install them in seperate folders. Is this right ? Would I be able to run, modify and compile my VB 4.0 applications (32-bits) if I install VB 5.0 on my computer ?As a last solution, I can install VB 4.0 on my NT Server and run it on this computer (I agree: a server should not be used to develop softwares, but it is at home…). Using each version of VB on a separate machine could be a solution. What do you suggest me ??

I’m not sure where you heard that VB4 and VB5 could coexist, but my experiencehas been quite the opposite. Because both VB4 and VB5 load up theWindowsSystemdirectory with tons of DLLs (some of which will conflict with each other),dual bootingis about the only solution.
