Forrester: Software Purchases to Dominate Tech Spending

Forrester Research has come out with new predictions for this year’s tech spending. It says consumers and businesses will spend $2.06 trillion on technology in 2013, a 3.3 percent increase over last year.

The biggest category of spending will be software, which Forrester believes will total $542 million. That’s a 3.3 percent increase from 2012, and the company predicts 6.2 percent growth next year. “Software is where most of the big changes in technology are taking place,” wrote Forrester analyst Andrew Bartels. “While the 2013 growth rate may not seem impressive, it will be stronger than any other tech category.”
