Red Hat Adds Azure and Container Support to CloudForms 4

Red Hat has updated its CloudForms cloud computing management platform, and the latest version adds support for containers and Microsoft Azure. The Azure support is a sign of the closer ties between Microsoft and Red Hat, as well as a symbol of Microsoft’s embrace of open source.

For now, CloudForms’ container support is limited to containers in Red Hat products, specifically, “workloads running in OpenShift Enterprise by Red Hat and the infrastructure hosting OpenShift.” However, given the new cooperation between Red Hat and Microsoft, it seems likely that CloudForms will also support Windows containers in the future.

CloudForms 4 can manage public, private and hybrid clouds, and it supports Red Hat’s OpenShift PaaS, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, OpenStack, VMware, and Amazon Web Services, as well as Azure and Hyper-V.
