Few Developers Working on Chatbots, Report Finds

For now, developers are more interested in augmented reality, virtual reality and machine learning.

Application Security Testing: An Integral Part of DevOps

Visionmobile's new Chatbot Developer Landscape 2016 report finds that while there has been a lot of hype about chatbots, few enterprise application development teams are actually working on chatbot applications. "The messaging bot hype has been at fever pitch in recent months, and yet there's relatively little developer activity so far," the report says.

It adds, "The huge interest in AR, VR and machine learning, when compared to the relatively tiny activity levels in messaging bots, is perhaps in recognition of their significance."

The report found that more than half of developers are aware of chatbots, but among those who are aware of the technology, less than 25 percent are convinced of the appeal of chatbots.
