Database software vendor Teradata has published a new report about how companies are finding staff to fill the growing number of big data jobs. Among organizations surveyed in the UK, France and Germany, 46 percent said they have filled big data positions with existing IT staff. In addition, 42 percent have hired specialist contractors, and 38 percent have used specialist recruiters.
When asked which skills they looked for in big data job candidates, software development was the top choice, cited by 43 percent of respondents. Other skills that qualify people for big data jobs include previous experience as a data scientist (29 percent) business analysis skills (25 percent) and business intelligence (22 percent).
