During the keynote address at the Google I/O developer conference Thursday, Google unveiled the next version of its mobile development platform, called Android M. InfoWorld says the update should be “comforting” for enterprise IT because it has few major changes, and the changes it does make are generally positive for those trying to manage BYOD programs.
For example, Android M will give end users more control over which permissions apps can have, which will improve security. It will also back up user data in Google Drive accounts, making it easier for users to recover data if they lose or damage their phones.
The company made a host of other announcements of interest to developers at the event. See the summary at Developer.com for a quick overview.
